A realization

I've come to the realization (and the acceptance) that I let my kids roll around in the dirt much more than the average mom!

Monkey see, monkey do

A2 adores his big brother and tries to do exactly what he does.  It's like buy one, get one free parenting!  I only have to make sure to one of them stays on the path and the other just follows.  Convenient, eh?

Keep on keeping on

Yup, A1 is still readin'.
DSC_8027

And still asking for pictures of read books.
DSC_8068

And most definitely still harvesting head-sized lemons with little brother.
DSC_8208

Are you kidding me?!?!

Yesterday, my car thermometer read 109 degrees.
DSC_0237

We're all going a bit nutty in this heatwave.  A2 has taken to wearing his swim goggles full time.
DSC_8489

And the Halloween decorations make no sense in the heat!  (Even though they've been up since the very beginning of September.)

At least the tomatoes are enjoying the extended growing season now that we've banished autumn.

Interruption

I was trying to snap some shots of my nephew and his girlfriend.
DSC_9744

A1 was displeased with the lack of action and decided that since no photo is complete without his presence anyhow, he would join in the fun by leaping in front of the camera.  Repeatedly.  Notice the exasperation in the background?

Saga of the secondborn

I'm loving this recent upsurge of A2 photos relative to those of the much-photographed A1.  I mean, at some point in the story, the underdog has to see a turn of events that starts to move him on top, right?

Heh.  Looks like he's cursing the historical imbalance.  Or maybe me for my part in the historical imbalance.

Firehouse visit

A2 didn't love the lecture/education component.

But once he was able to climb on the truck and play with the equipment, he was pretty pleased.

The preschooler

Well, it's official.  A2 is now attending the co-op preschool.

I have to start him off at the beginning of the day with wet hair or else he gets that Mad Scientist frizz.

But by the end of the day, he's got a fluffy head of hair and plenty of cornmeal from the sensory table all over himself.
DSC_8412

And here he is on his 2nd day of preschool.  He's very focused on decorating his A and doesn't care that I'm about to leave him all by his lonesome.  All in all, this has been a very positive start!

Let there be light...

even if it's only a fraction of a stop more.

I revised my 50mm f/1.8 with its big brother, the 50mm f/1.4G.  I find it shoots very (too?) warm, but the improved bokeh is very welcomed as is, of course, the extra light/speed for shots I usually avoid.  Like the ones on the livingroom:

Wow.  My psych books are in total disarray.  I find that a bit disconcerting.

All chalked up

Spaceships *good*

Having fun in the claws of an excavator *better*

Getting your head squished by the claws of an excavator *best*

Poor Pax.  He fell asleep as the boys were playing.  He's so old!
DSC_8256

He woke up to blue chalk all over his white fur.

You're getting sleepy...

DSC_8189

Veeeeeery sleeeeepy.

A2 was so incredibly happy to examine our visitor.

And why not?  He was so awesome!

First day of Kindergarten

Notice how A1 is just going through the motions and fake-smiling for the sake of the camera, but A2 is holding onto his big brother for dear life?
DSC_8127

A1's teacher invited the parents to stay for the kids' first school project.

But then we were asked to leave.
DSC_8166

I took A2 to the zoo, where we visited the animals and rode the merry-go-round.  Then when we came upon the giant eggs, A2 showed me where A1 would normally be if he were not in school.  Kinda sad...
DSC_8147

Then we fed the goats.

All in all, a good day.  No one even cried.  Not even me.
