Field trips

I'm utterly baffled by those parents whose children calm down in the car, the ones whose babies would only be lulled into slumber by the sounds and vibrations of a neighborhood ride. My kids HATED their carseats with such passion! But about 6 months ago, we started being able to take in longer car rides and that's really opened up what we're able to experience as a family.

We went back to the Huntington for a visit one month after our earlier trip. The boys had a really good time and I didn't break down into tears with a screaming baby in the backseat!

The fields

Okay, so we're at the dry riverbed a lot! But the boys are always exploring new regions surrounding the riverbed so I can get different backgrounds all the time. Here they are singing with their "song sticks".

And a few days later, they decided to practice their camouflage skills.

I love this image! The boys are pretending to take my photo as I take theirs.

Waffles and outtakes

These two things have nothing to do with one another, but they didn't really merit their own post.

When we have waffles, I'm always convinced it's more dessert than breakfast.

I'm pretty good at deleting photos, but these outtakes really deserved display. Here's A2's mouth full of food shown with some sort of obstruction between him and the lens.

And here is A1 digging for gold!

Soccer!

A1 does (non-AYSO) soccer this term and it bring about all sorts of guilt because A2, who has no analogous sports involvement, mostly just waits for his big brother.

A2 mostly rolls around in the grass and plays with bugs.

The best fun is when practice ends and the boys get to hang out with their buddies (with my little iPhone).

Belated Easter post

Wow, I'm so incredibly far behind and this post reveals much.
ea-01

A2 had a classroom celebration. He was unimpressed by the Easter Bunny.

The boys had an egg hunt at the regional park.

There was a tractor ride after the egg hunt. I love this image of them scrambling around right in front of the STAY SEATED sign!

Then we went to feed the ducks...and seagulls mid-flight!

The boys enjoyed our MOMS Club party and egg hunt, but you can't tell from this first photo!

Aquarium visit

The lengthy drive is tempered by iPhone entertainment.

A1 has gotten a lot braver over the many visits.

There is no aquarium context here, just A2 being cute.

...an entire generation that will label every clownfish as Nemo.

No matter what's on display, I'm always most fascinated by jellyfish.

Interpretive Center

ic-1

...the Peter and Mary Muth Interpretive Center, that is.
ic-2

Vast naturescapes and I pick this macro shot of a single wild flower. Can't fight my leanings.
ic-3

Tons of fun and I pick these 2 frames of the boys' displeasure. Heh.

A2 didn't enjoy the taxidermy.
ic-4

A2 didn't enjoy the sun.

Huntington Library & Garden

First, a programming note: Do you know how annoying it is for a photographer to be limited to 400px-wide images? VERY annoying! I hope this new wider version will alleviate some of my frustration.

And now, photos of the boys...because if you've ever been to this blog, you know that I don't sew any more.

This was supposed to be a neat scene, but if you look in the lower right-hand camera, you'll see both boys. They were rolling down the hill repeatedly. Fun times.
hg03

They're staring at koi, like they've never seen fish before in their lives. Seriously...just frozen at the edge, STARING!
