The 25th

Okay, technically this post starts on the 24th. Christmas Eve is when James' family opens a single present, leaving the rest for Christmas morning. These little differences between our families are the real cultural differences we face (that and the fact he prefers crunchy peanut butter--bleh, it's called BUTTER, it should be smooth, otherwise, it's just peanuts!), not the apparent ones that might arise given our racial differences. Wow. That was a random aside. Anyway, here are the kids with their single presents:

And here they are starting to rip into the rest of them on Christmas morning. One of these days, I'm going to make good on my all-homemade wish. Alas, there were mostly store-bought gifts this year. How am I going to make something as good as Hungry Hungry Hippo anyhow?

Then, we spent the rest of the day at the beach. Because it's So Cal and we can do that. Notice the crazy swimmer? Brrrr!!!!

Batteries not included

Sometimes I have to remind myself that the boys don't need fancy toys to keep themselves occupied and happy. We took them to a park with a dry riverbed

and they had a blast.

The great big Christmas-themed catch-up post

In the spirit of the great big Halloween post, this will be an enormous Christmas post, equally devoid of any significant value.

Here are the boys, sabotaging the planned Christmas card photo...and loving it.

Finally, a HAPPY Santa photo! Alas, it's followed by an unhappy Strange-Christmas-Character photo at the city's tree lighting ceremony.

Their school put on a fun garden party. The boys are done with the whole Santa thing at this point.

And then afterwards, we tried to take the Christmas card picture AGAIN. Look, A2's king of the world! He's a rabbit! He's driving a car! Oh...he's totally ticked off.
